Arlo is a 2-year old intact male Portuguese Water Dog on Day 4 of his 2-week Board and Train Program. He is introduced to the wait command to modify his behavior when going into or coming out of his crate. Pre-training Arlo spins circles in his crate and paws at the door. As you start to open the crate he pushes and comes running out. At the end of today's session, Arlo is able to wait until the crate door is open, I reach for his leash, and comes out under control with a "let's go" and he sits.
Today we continued with out place command (boundary training). Arlo is working on a 6-foot leash with the goal of being able to work "place" and "recall" off of all 4-sides of the board.
We also started "sit" and "wait" at the gate to the yard and will continue to use these commands as we move around the environment wherever there are openings (i.e. door, gate, crate, etc.)
